NEW “DWS” Areas
2nd July 2019 | Uncategorized
The new system of determining where GPs can work was launched on July 1st. Out goes the old system of District of Workforce Shortage. In comes a new “Distribution Priority Area”
The map is here: https://beta.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/health-workforce-locator/health-workforce-locator
Put in the location of interest or click “search the map”. Then tick the box for “distribution priority area” (DPA).
As expected the areas where GPs from overseas (ie UK & Irish trained GPs) can work has been pushed out from the city centres.
Having said that, there are still some vacancies relatively close to the main cities:
Adelaide: We have a vacancy in Golden Grove which should meet the requirements
Perth: Gosnells, south west of the CBD, is a DPA
Victoria: Geelong is a DPA. We are looking for vacancies there
Other areas in Victoria. We have a vacancy in Hamilton, to the west of Melbourne, which is DPA
