Wangaratta is located in the North East of Victoria,  with approximately 27,000 residents.  The Rural City of Wangaratta encompasses the Alpine Valley, King Valley and Ovens Valley.

This is the town’s information: Our town continues to grow in the industrial, retail and tourism sectors.  Wangaratta is one of Victoria’s most progressive provincial centres.   Wangaratta has well resourced commercial, recreational, retail, education and health facilities.  It has diverse industry and economic stability and is the regional centre for many government agencies.  Families are well-serviced with 21 primary schools, 3 secondary schools, a specialist school, a TAFE, a centre for continuing education and many childcare centres and kindergartens.   Located in the beautiful North East Region of Victoria, opportunities to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside abound.  Fishing, cycling, bush walking is popular as is enjoying the excellent gourmet foods and world class wines for which the district is famous.  Wangaratta is officially known as “Australia’s Capital of Jazz” and there are many other music and cultural festivals and events throughout the year.  Located within easy driving distance of some of the best Alpine Skiing in Australia. Wangaratta provides an abundance of variety and excellent quality of life.

Getting There: Wangaratta is 257km (just under 3 hours) drive from Melbourne on the Hume Freeway.  Wangaratta is on the Melbourne – Albury Wodonga – Sydney train line and is also regularly serviced by coach connections to Melbourne and other large rural centres.  Albury is 45 minutes from Wangaratta and has a Regional Airport enabling easy access to all major cities.
