Typical offers
Here are two examples of the type of offer available in Australia as of October 2011:
From a Corporately-owned practice, recruiting GPs for Melbourne or Perth area
- 3 year commitment, 60% of billings, $90/hour guarantee for first three months, 38-40 hours per week, 46 weeks per year, $25,000 Lump Sum Payment on commencement.
- 5 year commitment, 60% of billings, $90/hour guarantee for first three months, 38-40 hours per week, 46 weeks per year, $40,000 Lump Sum Payment on commencement.
Alternatively, this client, recruiting for the Perth area can offer:
- Flexible contracts, ideally 2 or 3 years, but will look at 1 year.
- Doctors can choose what percentage of billings they want and then they get a corresponding upfront payment and vice versa. For example, if you’d like a lump sum of $100,000 to assist with paying off a mortgage in the UK before you let or sell your house here – and you’re happy with a 3 year contract, then they will calculate a percentage to match
- They are happy to recruit 12 months in advance for some locations Some practices are mixed billing and other bulk billing. They are happy for the doctor to choose how they want to bill.
- They will provide you with a Visa (along with sponsorship, which is what every employer has to do). A visa can cost $2000-$3000.
