Deception Bay

A seaside town to the north of Brisbane – about 35 miles from the centre. There are some good parts and it has a refurbished sea front. However, it has suffered from a reputation of being a rundown area with some poor housing stock and troubled neighbourhoods. There is supposed to be a new railway going in which will link Deception Bay with Brisbane (earliest estimate if by 2016 – if funding gets final approval). Our view is that this will bring in a host of new inhabitants as it will be within easy commuting distance of Brisbane CBD.  Where else to live if you don’t fancy Deception Bay itself? Look at Brighton, further south along the coast, Has a good seafront, lots of facilities and is that bit closer into Brisbane itself. Or Murrumba Downs, which is that bit closer still to Brisbane
